Warm Up at Midwinter
Get ready for one of the largest dental industry meetings in the country. Tens of thousands of technicians, dentists and other dental team members will be flocking to Chicago Feb. 23-Feb. 26 for the Midwinter Meetings.
Be sure to join NADL and the Chicago Dental Society at Dental Technician Days. This two-day exhibition of products and services is geared specifically for laboratory owners and technicians. In addition to taking a gander at all of the latest technology, enjoy a bottomless cup of coffee and networking with some of the best in the industry.
In addition to Dental Technician Days, NADL is sponsoring four continuing education courses aimed at getting the dentist and technician to learn about the best practice of dentistry together. Mark your calendar to attend:
* How to Bring Excellence to Your Makeovers with Oliver Tric, MDT, and Dr. Jim Fondriest from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24. Is it fair for a dentist to ask a laboratory to make beautiful and good fitting restorations if the dentist doesn’t give the technician what is necessary to produce them? Learn what the best laboratories require from their dentist colleagues to do complex dentistry.
* Steps to Success with Nelson Rego, CDT, and Dr. Edward Lowe from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Friday Feb. 24. This course will take your through the necessary steps to success including:
o When to lead and when to follow. Get the most out of your relationship with your clients.
o How to add salsa to the relationship. Digital cameras, imaging, shade match software and other spicy appetizers.
o It takes two to tango. The most common mistakes made by both the laboratory and the dentist.
o Waltz your way through dentist management. Verbal skills and service perks to enhance the relationship.
o No jiving. An update on the latest dental material systems.
* Interceptive Orthodontics for the General Dental Practitioner with Don Inman, CDT, and Dr. Rob Veis from 8 a.m. - noon Saturday, Feb. 25. This course is designed to introduce orthodontic concepts to general dentists and will feature orthodontic appliances that can be manufactured by technicians for minor to moderate cosmetic tooth movement. The course will review common orthodontic problems and discuss how a general dentist can diagnose and treat them.
* Sleep Apnea Management with Don Inman, CDT, and Dr. Richard Moore from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. Learn the role of the dentist as a team member in the management of sleep apnea as well as the professional rewards of helping to provide significant quality of life improvements. The course will cover currently accepted therapies, how the appliances work, how the appliances are manufactured, dental practice economic and insurance considerations.
Bolder Capital, LLC, Buys DSG
Bolder Capital, LLC today announced it sponsored the management led buyout of Dental Services Group. DSG is a rapidly growing dental laboratory company that shares a common mission with its customers to promote the products and services that assist in achieving the highest degree of patient satisfaction and practice success.

In addition, Ditta stated that Joseph Gerace, CDT, will continue as Senior Vice President, George Obst and Ojars Papedis will retire but will continue with DSG on a consulting basis and that Keith Adams will be named director of finance.
