Heraeus Kulzer Sells Jelenko Dental Alloy Business to Argen
Heraeus Kulzer, Inc., has entered into an agreement to sell the Jelenko Dental Alloy Business of its North American-based dental materials business to The Argen Corporation. Jelenko provides dental alloy products to dental laboratories in the United States, Canada and overseas.
"The Jelenko brand represents a revered name in the dental supply business," said Christian Brutzer, president of Heraeus Kulzer, Inc. "We believe it will continue to prove valuable for dentists and laboratories. Heraeus Kulzer, Inc. holds a strong position in the dental market. We intend to maintain technological superiority by focusing on the emerging needs of our customers. We remain committed to innovation, with a focus on aesthetics and minimally-invasive dentistry as the future of dentistry throughout the world."
"The Jelenko name is well recognized and respected in the dental industry," said Anton Woolf, executive vice president of Argen. "We believe that this is a perfect fit for our business model."
Argen will maintain the Jelenko brand name. All Jelenko products will be manufactured with the same alloy names, packaging, and formulas. With a broad range of over 600 different alloy compositions, Argen anticipates that the Jelenko product offering will expand and improve.

Edmonds Dental Prosthetics Wins Award
Recently, the Springfield (Mo.) Area Chamber of Commerce named Edmonds Dental Prosthetics the 2005 Manufacturer of the Year. The laboratory employs 117 people in a high-tech work environment producing crowns and bridges, dentures and orthodontic appliances. The company has been in business for more than 30 years.
Bob Edmonds, CDT, opened the laboratory with a partner in the early 1960s and become the sole owner in 1982. He now has laboratories in West Plains and Jefferson City as well as Springfield. Thirteen percent of the laboratory's employees have been on the job for more than 20 years and the company has an 85 percent hiring retention rate.
