So far it has been an eventful first quarter of 2013. We have all grappled with the effects that various components of the Affordable Health Care Act will have on dental laboratories. Most are familiar with, and some more familiar than they would care to be, with one of the components of the Affordable Health Care Act: the Medical Device Excise Tax. Now that the initial dust has begun to settle with the Medical Device Excise Tax, some have inquired about whether they will be affected by another component of the Affordable Health Care Act known as the Physician Payment Sunshine Act.

One of the most frustrating tasks we face as technicians is fabricating a multiple unit veneer case in which only the labial and incisal edges have been prepped. This particular prep design makes establishing an accurate contact between the veneers almost impossible, not to mention the frustrating task of keeping the veneer in place in order to make necessary adjustments.
Throughout the years, I have seen various tricks or techniques applied to this particular issue in hopes of making fabrication easier, such as vaselining the veneers or using sticky wax around the margins.
