Hard Drive Failure - What Goes Wrong and Can You Rely on Data Recovery?
The hard disk drive in your computer is the place where the data is stored, and the data is at its most current. So, if it fails and there is not a current backup then it can be a very serious problem.
Why will a disk fail?
Your business continuity will be assured through small business data back up. If you are one of those people who prefer keeping their data on the computer then you might lose it all if your hard disk crashed or is damaged. In a fraction of an instant all your precious business data will be gone.
Recording the Data
There's no such thing as backing up digital information too much, or too often. A solid, well thought out backup plan can mean the difference between a normal day and a major disaster in the form of lost business data, financial and legal information, family photos and videos, and a great deal of time and money trying to recover data and get caught up.
That's Life: Establish Sound Financial Practices and Budgets
It’s never been easy to run a successful dental laboratory, and in this turbulent economy, it’s especially difficult.
The changes in materials, equipment, and techniques, combined with managed care, competitive pressure and the high cost of new technology all make operating a profitable laboratory more complex, and much more difficult. Some lab owners wonder if it can be done at all.
Last month I promised to give some suggestions for establishing realistic operating budgets.
Download 3M ESPE’s guide to making better impressions to share with your dentist clients at an impression-taking seminar at your laboratory. Read The Dreaded Remake in the November/December 2008 issue of the Journal of Dental Technology to see how one laboratory owner worked with his dentists to improve their impressions and curb remakes. Risky Business: Could You Make OSHA's - 10 Most Wanted List?
It’s that time of the year again to see what happened last year in regard to OSHA’s activity during the fiscal year 2008 (October 2007 through September 2008). The following were the top 10 most frequently cited standards for all types of industries:
Quantum is the Latin word for amount and, in modern understanding, means the smallest possible discrete unit of any physical property, such as energy or matter. Quantum came into the latter usage in 1900, when the physicist Max Planck used it in a presentation to the German Physical Society.
But, I digress as I often do when writing this column (at least I did not try to explain string theory or black holes). Here is a bit of an update on what 2009 will look like for me, and where this quantum fits in.
