Dear Ms. Marketing: Tee Time

Dear Ms. Marketing: I am looking to spend some time outside of the office with my customers and I want to give them that wow factor. Do you have any suggestions?

Get into the game of golf. You maybe saying why golf? There are more than 27 million golfers in the United States alone. Golf is a great way to open doors and close deals, golf can enhance almost any business relationship.

Golf is a networking game. There is no other place you can take you customer and not be interrupted especially if you both leave you cell phones in the car for four hours. In the U.S. alone 20 million rounds of golf are played each year, with sales of more than $28 billion. This means lots of deals are made on the golf course.

When you are thinking about golf don’t forget you female customers. Did you know that more than 25 percent of the golfers in this country are now women? Women are discovering golf as a great way to network. Your fellow laboratory owners know the importance of golf. For example, the Georgia Dental Lab Association will have our first annual female golf tournament/ fashion show at Stone Mountain in June.

The word golf means: gentlemen only ladies forbidden. When golf first started women were not allowed to play or for that matter allowed into the clubs. Times have changed.  Membership into the Executive Women’s Golf Association is more than 20,000 up from 1,500 in 1991. When planning meetings and even family outings, golf tops the list as most important over spa, shopping and cultural attractions.

Golf can tell the true meaning of a person. You can tell if they are honest. You can take notes on their appearance, how they carry themselves and how they follow rules. You can learn a lot, but remember they are learning the same about you.

If golf is what you decide to make a wow learn all you can about the game and the top players male and female.  t is always an ice breaker and good for business. When looking for places to play sometimes public can be just as nice as private. You may want to play a round or two just so you know you way around before inviting a customer or a future customer to play.

The best part about playing golf is you are not at work, you are at play. So, go out and give them some wow in the form of a round of golf.
