Dear Ms. Marketing: Characteristics of a Top Sales Person

Dear Ms. Marketing: Characteristics of a Top Sales Person

My top ten lists would be the following:

  1. Honesty.  I think that you have to be honest and ethical in everything you do. To be able to keep your promises. Your word should mean everything to you and to others.
  2. Positive attitude.  I think that by being positive good things will happen to you.  Keep a positive attitude and the world with keep you happy.
  3. Confidence.  I know that I will achieve whatever I decide to do and I am willing to work hard to achieve my goals.  With no goals and no confidence how will you know you are doing well?
  4. Caring. I want my customers to know that I want to help them whatever it may be and that I truly care about them and I am not always trying to sell them something.
  5. Have fun.  If you don’t like what you are doing do something you do like.
  6. I think that you have to find joy in sales.  Make it fun.
  7. Be happy.  Be able to relate to people.  Don’t be a threat to them. People like to do business with people they like.
  8. Problem solver.  Being able to assess and help with real problems.  Be all you can be to your customer and prospects. Know when to spend time on issues and know when not to.
  9. Be organized.  The devil is in the detail.  Your success will depend on your ability to be organized.  It will save you time and money and make your days error free.
  10. Be a cheerleader.  Try to always great your customer with some fun and excitement.  Be friendly and sincere.  Keep your attitude knob always on positive.
  11. 110 percent.  Give it all you got. If you are selling ice to Eskimos give it 110 percent.  If it is worth doing it deserves all of your attention. If you want to be in the top 10 percent of your sales force then you have to give 110 percent.

I hope this will help you with some of the issues you may have about sales. Remember sales make the world go round.
