Dear Ms. Marketing: Where Do You Get Your Ideas?

First of all thank you for your question, and no I do not have a staff of creative people it is just me and Dennis that thinks up our ideas. I can give you some ways you can become more creative. I believe we all have a creative side we just don’t use it.

1. Believe in yourself. Believe that you have the ability to be creative. If you tell yourself that you have new and creative ideas then you will see things happen. You can come up with new ideas. Just think of all the people that made things happen just by believing they could. It helps if you have someone that also believes with you.

2. Attitude. If you have a negative attitude it will block and sometimes destroy your creative thoughts.  Have you ever gotten into an argument and after it was over you said I wish I had said this or that? The reason we all do this is because your positive, creative attitude was blocked by a bad attitude. Stay focus on positive thoughts.

3. Find a place to be creative. Dennis and I do our best thinking and work at the beach. We walk and talk and come up with new ways to make our business work. We work better at our business when we are not at work. Some of it is because we are more relaxed and we are not being irrupted by phones or people.  Some people work better with noise we don’t. Find your place and start being creative.

4. Study the leaders in our industry for being creative. Think of all the companies that have come up with great ideas and you have bought product from them because of their ideas and marketing. Now you go out there and follow their lead and make it work for you.

5. Seeing is believing. Once you have put your ideas to work brag on them. Let everyone know that was your idea, that we got some new accounts because of your ideas. Everyone likes to brag and to be bragged on. Remember if you talk about someone else’s ideas they will almost always talk about yours.

I have given you some steps to start coming up with some new and exciting ideas. Whatever your idea is remember there will always be someone that will say it is any good. They are just jealous. Ignore them and they will go away and you can get on with your life of being great.

Remember if you don’t keep driving your business someone will drive you out of business.
