Dear Ms. Marketing: What Do You Think About Web Sites?

Dear Ms. Marketing: In the past I had tried a Web site and had little response. Do you think that with all the advancement in new technology should I revisit a Web site?

Funny you should ask that question. We were at a meeting this weekend and learn about a company that can help you with a Web site. What makes this company different from others is that they know the laboratory industry. They will help to show you what works and what doesn’t.

When starting to develop your Web site remember the same marketing tools apply that apply to the day in and day out of marketing. Which means remember the law of numbers? Number one is always the best. If you can’t be number one, position yourself to be number two. This goes for the Web. Yes you do have to pay more for the position but think of all the customers you may stop before they look at number two.

Be friendly on the Web. If you can get around your Web site with ease you are a winner.
Remember the gate keepers are still the gate keepers. If they go to your site and can’t move around they will close the gate and go somewhere else.

Remember to show off. If you have great customer service let your customers know on your Web site. Harvey Mackay says, “There is no business like your business.” This is also true when designing a Web site. Make sure you show some show business.

Ask for the sale. When you design your Web site don’t forget to have a place where they can call and get starter boxes and or a phone number for ordering supplies. Once again make it easy and friendly. Remember this is part of your company and just like your front office, your delivery people, you want this to reflect what your lab is about.

I know you are thinking how and where do I start? If you have children that are texting as you are reading this ask them. If you don’t, I would visit some Web site of dentist and labs and see what is out there. You can also go to You Tube. You will be amazed at what you can learn on this site. Your state association and or NADL are also a great place to find out more information. After all how did you find me?

So remember what ever you do just get your name out there on the World Wide Web and let the world know who you are and what you do. You maybe the greatest Certified Dental Technician, but if you don’t get your name out there nobody will know.
