Dear Ms Marketing: I want to give my accounts some WOW. Can you help with some ideas?

Dear Ms Marketing: I want to give my accounts some WOW. Can you help with some ideas?

First of all, decide who you want to WOW. Do you want to WOW your accounts and at the same time WOW your employees?

I would start by making the word WOW stand for something. For example, it could mean Working On Winning. You could call it: things that make you say WOW. Figure out what fits you and your business best. You could have a contest with your employees to see what they come up with.

Once you have decided on your campaign, start making a list of things you could do for your accounts. You may want to offer a cruise. I had a laboratory say that they offered a cruise and for every unit the doctors sent, they got their name entered in a drawing. For example, if an account sent in a three-unit bridge, they got their name in the hat three times. At the end of the year they drew for a cruise. You can get the travel agency to help with your marketing budget. Travel agencies also want to get their name out there, so they may be willing to help you with ideas and details.

Another way to WOW your accounts would be to make incentives on an individual basis. If you have an all-female account you may want to offer a day at the spa. Check with your local nail places and see if you can reserve one for the day or even after hours. You can have a limo pick them up at the office and take them to the nail salon and you just drop by with goodies. This will get you remembered the next time that great case comes along.

If you have a male office that you want to WOW, find out if they hunt, fish or play golf.  Remember, if you have been to their office you can check the magazines that they have in the office or any pictures on the wall. Once again, you can set something up for them and their friends/co-workers and you just drop in with goodies. If you feel close enough to the account then you may want to go along with them. Whatever you do, make sure you put lots of the WOW factor into the trip/occasion.

You can also do this on a smaller scale to include the office staff. Cash is king. You can drop off lottery tickets to an office or drop by with a money bag. You can fill it with lots of $1 bills, but be sure to put in at least one $20. They will remember you for sure.  Gas cards and dinner cards to different restaurants are always winners.  We all have to eat and everyone could use a little extra gas money.
When you do your WOW program, don’t forget your employees. You can WOW them with gifts like one company who held a be my guest campaign where employees had a chance to win a gift card to their favorite restaurant. Once again, you can do this on a small scale or large depending on your company. Everyone likes to be recognized and rewarded for special efforts. You don’t have to give much, it just needs to be enough to show that you really care about the job your employees do.

So, as you think of ways to WOW your customer, also thinks of ways companies have WOWed you. Have fun and your employees and customers will have fun also.
